The Danish BIG architectural group won a competition recently for the design of Greenland’s new national gallery. The structure is to represent Greenland’s rugged but beautiful terrain, culture and people. Construction will begin shortly. What do you guys and girls think? Pretty awesome!
Enjoy!

The shape of the exterior reminds me a little of the Beijing birds nest….
It does, you’re right! I love how it will be facing the open sea! Thanks for visiting! 🙂
Interesting. Cool design. But, who pays for this? I’ve read there are just 57,000 residents of Greenland earning around $22,240 per capita. How will such an impoverished group of people come up with the funds for the project? Or, are the Danes generous benefactors?
I believe it’s a joint project with the Nordic Culture Fund – Here’s some more info about them if your interested (http://www.norden.org/en/news-and-events/news/national-gallery-to-become-greenland2019s-new-landmark). Greenland does have some growing industries, and along with that, they do get subsidies from the Danish government. Thanks for visiting! 🙂
Thank you for the information. 🙂
